Quic&Dirty did a small talk about proportion... this is the short version.

This dude is Italian mathamatician Luca Pacioli, he invented modern accounting. In 1509 he and his big-buddy Leonardo published 'Divina Proportione' - a research into divine proportions in nature.

It was based on the earlier work of Fibonacci. He worked out that in nature things evolve exponentially. He worked out that nature is based on...

1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34...

Where each number is added to the one before it to create a new number. When you take two numbers next to each other, they are very beautifully proportioned.

This shape is based on perfect proportion.

So the Leonardo dude and others start to base their compositions on this 'divine proportion of nature'.

Once you got him started...

You could'nt stop him!

Then they started finding 'divine proportion' all over the place...

From the proportions of the human face...

To the proportions of insects.

Then they found out that classical architecture was based on it.

Which inspired later generations, from the builders on Notre Dame...

To Corbusier....

credit cards...

the iPod...

iMac

Apple packaging....

The truth is out there...
